The Encirq 3e Database Suite for Embedded Systems is a combination of technology, tools, and components for creating embedded databases that the company claims can be less than 50K in size. Encirq Corp. is staking claim to the world's smallest database, says CEO and founder Mark Vogel. “It is as functional in 32K as it is in 32M,” says Vogel. He adds that every machine can be a data source or data sink to any other machine.
The database development tools consist of a program logic language, an interactive prototyping tool, and a code generator that analyzes data logic and creates optimized, portable C code specific to an application's requirements. The tools generate custom, portable C code for databases that can operate on 16- or 32-bit systems running either with or without a real-time operating system. The tool suite can integrate into Metrowerks CodeWarrior Development Studio and Microsoft Visual Studio.
The Encirq 3e Database Suite is available now. A single developer seat license is $4,995. Royalties are under $1 for customers with shipments in excess of 50,000 units. A 30-day evaluation pack is available for free.
