Small dc-dc converter boasts flexibility, easy design-in

Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX8614, a tiny dual-output, step-up dc-dc converter that can generate voltage outputs up to +24 and -10 V with a 100-mA output current. The output is adjustable with external resistors. Several integrated capabilities increase the part's flexibility and ease design-in. The controlled in-rush current saves battery life, and the pin-selectable CCD power-up sequencing eliminates external timing circuits.

The MAX8614 comes in a 3- by 3-mm, 14-pin TDFN package. Other features include True Shutdown without an external FET and internal compensation capacitors. The device operates with 4.7-μF output capacitors. High-efficiency, high-voltage internal n-FET and p-FET transistors, coupled with 1-MHz fixed-frequency PWM operation, provide a low-noise solution.
