MUNICH, Germany Automotive measurement technology expert Ipetronik (Baden-Baden, Germany) has announced a software that gathers measurement data and displays them in real time. While due to the historical focus of the vendor the software aims at automotive customers at the first place, it also can be used in industrial environments.
The Ipemotion software is characterized by an open architecture based on a .NET platform which allows users to integrate program libraries. These Manufacturer Application Layers (MALs) ensure seamless communication with any type of measurement hardware, the vendor promises. MALs for hardware platforms from National Instruments and HBM plug-ins will be made available with the introduction of the Ipemotion software and additional MALs will be created within the online community www.ipemotion.com. Since the MAL concept follows an open-source approach, users can develop their own MALs.
The measurement systems controlled by the software can be configured using standard description files such as CANdb, A2L or LDF. To simplify further data processing in subsequent processes or in analysis tools such as DIAdem or Excel, users can store measurement data directly in many formats.
The software is available for Windows XP and Vista platforms and will be made available in four different editions. The simplest is the Basic Edition. It supports configuring measurement hardware, performs quick tests, simple measurements and verification tasks. The Standard, Professional, and Developer versions incrementally increase the functionality with the Developer version enabling developers to generate runtime licenses and supporting an unlimited number of channels.
