LONDON Avnet Technology Solutions is extending its recently established relationship with Symbol Technologies Inc beyond Benelux, France and Italy to include German and the U.K.
Symbol develops rugged mobile computers and data capture technologies, wireless network infrastructure and management solutions.
Based on expanding their existing U.S. collaboration, the two companies are also reviewing the opportunity to globalize their partnership in other regions. The global alignment should allow both companies to improve the supply chain for resellers and integrators.
“Internationally renowned solution portfolios such as those of Symbol Technologies enable us to undertake auto ID distribution on a global scale,” said Dieter Lott, vice president of Avnet Technology Solutions with responsibility for mergers, acquisitions and the development of new areas of business throughout Europe.
In the initial stage, Avnet Technology Solutions began managing – through its acquisition of certain assets of Printex Europe – the distribution contracts for Symbol products in Belgium, France and Italy. The company has now taken advantage of the opportunity to take on the role of Symbol distributor in Europe's two largest sales markets, Germany and the U.K.
“We’re seeing an increased demand for enterprise mobility solutions throughout Europe and Asian regions as businesses continue to learn the benefits of capturing, moving and managing their business-critical information in real-time,” said Jeremy Butt, vice president of Symbol’s worldwide distributions. “Growing Symbol’s relationship with Avnet is a natural evolvement as more distributors look to help drive enterprise mobility deployments.”
