Thales sells UK acoustic division

London, UK — Thales has sold Thales Acoustics to J.F. Lehman & Company, a private equity firm focused on investments in highly engineered end markets including the aerospace, defence, marine and industrial technology sectors.

Thales Acoustics is a defence sub-system business producing audio ancillaries and field line communications for the defence and allied markets. Based in Harrow, north-west London, Thales Acoustics employs about 200 people. Following completion of the transaction, the business will trade under the name Racal Acoustics.

Thales Acoustics develops Active Noise Reduction (ANR) for headsets in high ambient noise environments. These include military and air traffic control lightweight headsets, rugged handsets and fist microphones, and field telephones and systems. It sells to over 100 armed forces in 80 countries.
