Thomas Maloney is a dedicated man to his work. After being in the accounting line for a while, he aimed to get his Chartered Accountant certification and started studying furiously for the paper. But at the same time Tom longed for something a little more than just being an accountant; he figured that he needed to something just a little MORE than crunch numbers everyday at his desk. As an inquisitive and hardworking man, Tom constantly found things to do that would help his career forward and that included focusing on sports - he holds a number of trophies in various outdoor activities such as tennis, rugby and skiing, as well as helping his family business in self storage. His parents had decided to embark on a journey of their own when they decided to open a storage company in the Gold Coast. Being around the office and warehouses, Tom picked up a lot of tips and tricks and thought of starting something similar himself! Fast forward a few years and you will find Tom doing just that at his own self storage Brisbane facility. He’s jumped on the bandwagon and having licensed a franchise with Supercheap Storage! • Of course AI still has a long way to go. If and when artificial intelligence reaches the standard of computing and processing that the human brains have, we will be in a lot of trouble I reckon! We need to embrace the fact that there are such quirks and problems with trying to program some sort of virtual assistant to do things - it's a sign that we are still superior and will continue to be for a while!

    • A good similar example is how our cellphone apps still work silently in the background despite our screen being off. This is why we need to always exit properly to ensure our device is in optimal condition at all times. Otherwise, we risk the apps draining our battery without us knowing and over time the lifespan of our battery is bound to deteriorate.

    • We cannot expect things to always go our way especially when it is the dynamic world of IoT that we are talking about. We should always be prepared for whatever that may or may not come our way. It is not saying that we should expect the worst but it is to be ready when it comes. From there, we will learn how to pave our next moves.

    • Everybody wants a portable fitness tracking unit on their wrist these days and I dare say that the price for something that provides that to you is becoming a lot more affordable. I would imagine that people would have more than one of these little tech devices in storage now, just like they would have for a regular time piece!

    • This seems like something that we had better keep an eye on. At the rate the whole industry of Iot is starting to develop, I really won't be surprised if there's a proper kind of service offering this in the facilities such that all the different business units will be more coordinated and efficient with the system in place.

    • I am still in awe with how much mankind is generally so interested in what goes on in outerspace. Are we really able to achieve something out of the entire lot of hefty investments we had put through for the countless Mars landings? Or are they just as a platform to generate a series of activities for the researchers in that very department?

    • Is it not true when we say that the digital world is actually a hacker's heaven? The more advanced the infrastructure is, the more advanced the hacker techniques become. I guess the evolvement between these two is often corelated in more ways than one. We need to find a way to get this relationship to break.

    • This is when the need to uphold quality should supercede any other pre-requisites. When you first mention to your consumer base that you aim to deliver, then you should indeed do just that. If there is at any one point during your career that you decide to aim for the stats instead, then you should be prepared to face the consequences. The plan could backfire and obviously your clientele will eventually come back to you for any defects. If you had done the right thing right from the beginning, they won't be biting you in the rear.

    • I would definitely be curious about how such a system would work considering how there are so many new issues to contend with when it come to introducing a whole new power system in such a complicated "appliance" like a car! The people in charge of managing and monitoring the throughput on such a system should be proud about what they've achieved in the hybrid and electric cars!

    • This makes me think about the age-old advice : did you restart your computer? I find it hilarious that there are such simple fixes for problems sometimes but people get so flustered that the systems just won't rectify itself. I can't imagine how much more complicated it must be in a system that has a lot of different components, but sometimes, restarting and rebooting the whole system still does the trick!

    • Considering how many moving parts there actually are when it comes to IoT - basically everything is trying to talk to each other - of course there has to be more points of monitoring and management so as to ensure that everything runs smoothly during operations! I would imagine that there will be a better and more streamlined way of managing the whole system soon though. Everybody is rather banking on this whole set up to work so that we can have a more sophisticated way of living somehow.
