RF Micro Devices recently entered the market for dc-to-dc converter power-management components. The company's parts have the hooks built in to provide an easy interface to its line of power amplifiers (PAs). The combination can potentially reduce PA current consumption as much as 50% in CDMA and WCDMA applications.
The dc-to-dc converters provide about 90% efficiency over a wide output voltage range with minimal ripple. The parts are designed using a low-cost silicon process and are housed in a low-cost leadless package, measuring 3 by 3 mm. More information is available at www.rfmd.com.
