Microchip Technology recently announced a family of ten voltage supervisors: the MCP1316, MCP1316M, MCP1317, MCP1318, MCP1318M, MCP1319, MCP1319M, MCP1320, MCP1321, and MCP1322. These parts offer a watchdog timer, manual reset, multiple combinations of push-pull or open-drain reset outputs, and factory trip-points from 2.0 to 4.7 V in 100-mV increments, all in a small, 5-pin SOT-23 package. The devices operate within the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
The MCP1316 through MCP1322 monitor processor activity in digital systems. They operate at input voltages ranging from 1.0 to 5.5 V, consume little power (5 ΜA typical). The devices complement Microchip's PIC microcontrollers to help create a total embedded system solution. The voltage supervisors are sampling today. They're priced at $0.42 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
To help designers get started, Microchip offers the Voltage Supervisor SOT-23-5/6 evaluation board (VSUPEV2) for $10. For additional information, visit the company's Web site at www.microchip.com/MCP13XX.
