Welsh drive maker expands, adds jobs

LONDON — Invertek Drives, based on Offa’s Dyke Business Park in Welshpool, is virtually doubling the size of its U.K. head office. The expansion will also result in the creation of 50 new jobs in manufacturing, design, research, sales and customer service over the next three years.

Invertek Drives manufacture and market a range of highly innovative variable speed drives that are used to control electric motors in thousands of applications around the World. Last year saw sales of its Optidrive product increase by 32% and the outlook for 2008 remains extremely optimistic with further significant financial growth expected.

The €2 million building programme underway will add 1,800 sq m of office facilities specifically for sales and marketing, customer training; and research and development purposes. The new facility is not an expansion of manufacturing space. Invertek says its product design philosophy means that Optidrive E2 drives are three times more efficient to manufacture than previous generation products.
