Welwyn wins design-in to Dreamliner

LONDON — TT Electronics plc subsidiary Welwyn Components, has won a contract worth in excess of £10 million over the next 15 years to supply microcircuits and custom resistor products for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Each passenger jet, which is designed to use 20 percent less fuel in comparison to similar journeys in today’s medium-sized aircraft, includes 420 TT Welwyn (Bedlington, England) microcircuits and custom resistors.

Each Welwyn component used in the aircraft has been custom designed for its specific application including the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine management system, wing ice protection system and aircraft braking system.

The contract to supply microcircuits and hybrid resistors for the Boeing Dreamliner is with several companies includes Goodrich, Ultra and Sagem.
