Wind River adds support for Cavium Networks processors
LONDON Wind River is to develop a software platform optimized for Cavium Networks' ECONA ARM-based energy efficient processors.
The next-generation ECONA family of processors provide single and dual ARM11 CPU cores, a set of integrated hardware accelerators and a range of I/Os for glueless voice, video and data connectivity.
Power management techniques enable operation starting at less than 1 Watt.
The Wind River CNS3XXX-based solution will target connected broadband home and small office customer premise equipment devices that deliver dynamic IP-centric services and support high-definition video and audio, Internet telephony, remote configuration, monitoring, and home automation.
Wind River is a Cavium PACE (Partnership to Accelerate Customer End-solutions) member. Customers will be able to build end-to-end network elements and consumer device applications using Wind River's VxWorks and Wind River Linux run-time platforms and advanced networking technologies with Cavium Networks' OCTEON and ECONA product lines.
“By collaborating with Wind River, we will provide our joint customers with a tightly integrated, feature rich, and proven high-performance software and hardware solution that will enable the next generation of connected home services,” said Sandeep Vij, general manager and vice president, Cavium Networks.
