WIRELESS/RF: SSV debuts embedded GPRS router

Hannover, Germany – To aid development and delivery of IP services in GSM/GPRS mobile communication networks over wireless TCP/IP networks SSV Software Systems GmbH is now making available its embedded GSM/GPRS router module with different interfaces and extensive software functions.

The router consists of two small boards, which are lying on top of each other. The lower board forms the DIL/NetPC ADNP/9200 with an ARM9-MCU, 32 MByte Flash, 64 MBytes RAM, 2x Ethernet, 3x UART, 1x SPI, 20-bits GPIO, MMC/SD and a CompactFlash interface.

The upper one is a GSM/GPRS quad band modem with SIM card slot. The modem supports the GSM frequencies 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz as well as GPRS Multi Slot Class 10.

The router software offers an integrated Linux with al lot of special extensions. For the IP-Routing the powerful Iptables/Netfilter functions are used. Apart from the forwarding of IP packages between LAN and GPRS it is possible to filter the IP traffic by freely definable Firewall rules.

Further safety functions are SSL, SSH and OpenVPN. The VPN functions of the router also enable the system to use a fixed IP address for GPRS. An integrated proxy server for telnet, ftp, HTTP and HTTPS is included.

The router contains a TCP Serial Port Redirector with AT modem functions that can be switched on or off. Through that, the three UARTs can be connected to the Internet with or without a VPN protection. The entire configuration of the embedded GPRS router takes place by a simple to use Web interface.
