WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems now offer a suite of services for Amazon FreeRTOS. Services include porting to new processors, technical support, consultancy and licensing. WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems have a Strategic Business Alliance with Amazon Web Services, and have been closely linked with the FreeRTOS project since its conception.
Amazon FreeRTOS is a Real Time Operating System for microcontrollers that makes small, low-power edge devices easy to program, deploy, secure, connect, and manage. Amazon FreeRTOS is based on the FreeRTOS kernel, a popular open source RTOS for microcontrollers, and extends it with software libraries that make it easy to securely connect to the cloud. WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems have always been closely partnered with the FreeRTOS project, and now AWS has stewardship of FreeRTOS this has not changed, with a Strategic Business Alliance between AWS and WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems continuing the relationship.
Porting Services for Amazon FreeRTOS include porting either the FreeRTOS kernel, or the entirety of Amazon FreeRTOS and incorporated software libraries, to new processor/compiler platforms. This includes porting to niche or uncommon processors, those not supported by FreeRTOS, or even to bespoke hardware. With many years’ experience porting FreeRTOS and middleware to specialist processor/compiler platforms, WHIS guarantees a high level of expertise.
Support for Amazon FreeRTOS is offered as one year’s access to the WHIS online support portal. Consultancy is undertaken by WHIS's highly experienced engineers and is tailored to customer requirements – whether that’s preliminary design review or formal peer review.
These services are in addition to the commercial licensing that WHIS provides for Amazon FreeRTOS under the brand name OPENRTOS, and the upgrade path to SAFERTOS, WHIS’s own safety critical Real-Time Operating System pre-certified by TÜV SÜD.
