Xilinx adds DTE to European channel

LONDON — Xilinx has expanded the distribution agreement it has with Nu Horizons Electronics Corp. which covers North American and Asia Pacific to include the U.K. and Ireland.

Its field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs), software design tools and intellectual property cores will be distributed by DT Electronics Ltd. ( Coventry, England), Nu Horizons’ recently acquired wholly-owned subsidiary.

“We are pleased to expand our existing relationship with Nu Horizons into Europe,” said Chris Henry, vice president, channel sales and operations of Xilinx, Inc. “Their successful North American and Asia Pacific demand creation efforts and recent acquisition of DT Electronics, combined with our desire to offer customers a choice of strong technical distribution channel partners, made expansion into the United Kingdom and Ireland the next logical step in our long-standing partnership.”

“We are very excited about our expanded relationship,” added, Dave Bowers, president of Nu Horizons Distribution Division. Nu Horizons has invested heavily in technical sales, marketing and engineering resources globally and Xilinx has continued to recognize our efforts. We will work hard to further develop Xilinx’ business within the region.”

“Programmable logic has been the largest gap in our product portfolio for some time and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with the undisputed world leader in this area,” added DT Electronics’ managing director, Tony Frere.

DT Electronics is in the process of adding three new field applications engineers to support the new franchise, one of whom will also act as technical manager for programmable logic. The distributor is also appointing an internal franchise manager for Xilinx.
